John Sklaryk

John A. Sklaryk, age 95, of 307 Ampersand Ave, Saranac Lake, died Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at home surrounded by his family and friends.

Born in Schodack, New York on September 12, 1916, he was the son of George and Anastasia (Laskovich) Sklaryk. He married Beatrice Gauthier on November 20, 1939 in St. Bernard's Church. She predeceased him on April 3, 2000.

John had been employed as an Accountant for Paul Smiths Electric and later for Niagara Mohawk for over 30 years until his retirement. Prior to that he had work at the Adirondack Daily Enterprise. John was an active member of the Saranac Lake Adult Center and was a past member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by two daughters Diane Sklaryk of Albany, NY, Debra Jewell and her husband John of Altamont, NY, one son John Sklaryk of Poughkeepsie, NY, one granddaughter Kaitlin Jewell of Altamont, NY, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, mother two sons Gary and Stephen Sklaryk, and four brothers and sisters.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 12:00 PM at St. Bernard's Church, with Rev. Mark Reilly officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery in Saranac Lake.
