Calvin Miller

November 20, 1927 — September 15, 2013

Calvin S Miller, 85, died peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, September 15, 2013, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, NY. Born on November 22, 1927 in Brooklyn to the late Dorothy Klein Miller and Stanley Miller, Cal attended Brooklyn Tech High School, served two years in the Army during World War II, and graduated from Michigan State. As a longtime resident of Albany he worked for over 25 years with the New York State Department of Civil Service before retiring in 1986. He was an avid downhill skier who spent most weekend winters at Gore Mtn & Killington, VT before moving to his favorite place on earth – Vail, CO where he worked part time for Vail Resorts in between his skiing and volunteer work at Vail and Beaver Creek. His sharp intellect, quick wit and chutzpa allowed him to see humor in most situations. A passionate music lover, Cal listened continuously to his favorite old jazz and classical CDs that his good friends often referred to “Cal Music.” A serious woodworker, Cal enjoyed making fine furniture for family and friends. He is predeceased by his daughter, Leslie Miller and a sister, Rita Miller Levine. Cal is survived by his wife, Judith Anne Meagher of Saranac Lake, two daughters: Tracie Cassidy (John ) of Watervliet & Johanna Miller (Linda Rieke) of Golden, CO; 3 grandchildren: Philip Cassidy & Ryan Cassidy of Clifton Park; Kaia Miller of Golden, CO; and one niece, Marion Levine Mostofsky (Steve) of Greensboro, NC. The family would like friends & relatives to make contributions in Cal Miller’s name to either Bravo!
