Martin Winderl

November 24, 1929 — October 2, 2013

Martin David Winderl, 83 of Saranac Lake, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at the Adirondack Medical Center.

Martin was born on November 24, 1929, in Washington D.C. the son of Matthew Francis Winderl and Eleanor Argenta Tierney.

Martin was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War. He was a master stone mason. Early in his career, he worked for several local contractors and had worked on many Adirondack great Camps as well as many businesses and homes around the region.

On June 3, 1961, Martin married LaVaughn Blow, of Underhill, VT.

Martin is survived by his wife LaVaughn, four daughters Donna (John) Whiteside of Baldwinsville, NY; Debbie (Roger) Lagree of Bloomingdale, Teresa (Neil) Smith of Bloomingdale, and Martina (Chad) Harvey of Saranac Lake. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Matthew and Brittany Smith; Justin, Danielle and Connor Whiteside, Nicole and Kirstin Lagree and Elizabeth and Evan Harvey and one great grandson Gavin Smith. Martin is also survived by two brothers Frederick (Sandra) and Robert both of Saranac Lake, as well as many nieces and nephews. Martin was predeceased by his parents and one brother Matthew.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Friday, October 4, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday October 5, 2013 St. Bernard's Church. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Saranac Lake.
