Clarence Brockway, Jr.

Clarence W. Brockway, Jr., age 77, of 565 County Route 18, Lake Clear, died at home peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, November 06, 2014.

Born in Burke, New York on November 21, 1936, he was the son of Clarence and Grace (Duquette) Brockway. Clarence married Sylvia Ducatt March 25, 1961 at St. John's Church in Lake Clear.

Clarence owned and operated Brockway’s Construction in Lake Clear, was the care taker at the Brewster Camp on St. Regis Lake, and owned and operated Charlie’s Inn in Lake Clear. He also owned and operated the Sharpening Shop which was one of his all time favorite business, visiting with all his friends and customers. Clarence is a Veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Korean War. He is a past member of the Saranac Lake American Legion and enjoyed hunting.

He is survived by his wife Sylvia Brockway of Lake Clear, four sons Clarence Brockway, III, Robert Brockway, John Brockway and wife Jill and Joseph Brockway and his wife Danielle all of Lake Clear, one brother Clark Duquette and his wife Gwen of Central Square, one sister Nona Brockway of Syracuse, one sister-in-law Joyce Duquette of California, 15 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, two brothers Robert and Marvin Duquette, and one sister Helen Rowe.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Sunday, November 9, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Monday November 10, 2014 at St. John’s Church in Lake Clear. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery Lake Clear in Lake Clear.
