HELEN RUTH THOMPSON DENNY, age 97 of 78 Will Rogers Drive, Saranac Lake died Friday January 24, 2015 at the Essex Center in Elizabethtown, New York.

Helen was born on September 28th, 1917 in Punxsutawney, PA.

She is survived by her daughter Tobi Kumar, and her brother, Dr. MC Thompson and family, as well as many caring friends. She was a resident of the historic community of Saranac Village at Will Rogers in Saranac Lake; and a longtime resident of New York City. She worked as a medical secretary at Memorial Sloan Kettering and Lenox Hill Hospitals in New York.

A charter member of the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian 2009, and National Associate Member 2011; a volunteer at the International Center in New York, she supported many charities. Helen was a strong supporter of The St. Joseph's Indian School, in Chamberlain, South Dakota. She also supported the AII- Stars Project Inc. recognizing the achievements of inner ¬City youth in New York City, sending many to the All-Stars Project there over a period of fifteen Years. She was a loving mother, a cherished family member, and we will all miss her greatly.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. Memorial services will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Saranac Lake, on Church Street, Saranac Lake, NY in springtime.
