Lucille Lewis Richardson

Lucille "Lucy" Ann Lewis Richardson, 77, of Saranac Lake died Monday, April 7,2014 with her family by her side, after a courageous battle from a spinal injury.

She was born November 26, 1936, daughter of Delores (VanNortwick) and Raymond Richardson.

She graduated from Saranac Lake High School in 1954.Lucy married Denton "Destry" Lewis on April 16, 1955. Lucille had a 35 year career with NY Telephone as an operator and supervisor. After her retirement she kept herself busy with various part time job including Tupper Lake National Bank, North Country Home Services and private pet care. Lucille was a member of numerous organizations, including SL Golf Club, Catholic Daughters, NY Telephone Pioneers, Lady of the Elks, and most recent United Methodist Church.

Lucille had a zest for Life.....her many hobbies included golfing, boating, cross-country skiing, swimming, bird watching and traveling. Some of her fondest memories were spending time with her family at their summer camp, and their many trips to Florida. Lucille had a undeniable love for animals and spending time with her many friends. Our mom had a unique way of touching the hearts and leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

She is survived by four children, Anne Wuerdeman of Queensbury, Susan Garwood and her husband Joel of Saranac Lake, Kathy Stiles Lewis of Saranac Lake, and son David Lewis and his companion Pam Sutphen of Saranac Lake. Four grandchildren, Justin and his wife Ashley Garwood of Durham, NC Lyndsay Garwood of Saranac Lake, Molly and Emma Wuerdeman of Queensbury and many nieces and nephews, also her little "Sweetheart" dog Cookie.

She was predeceased by her parents, brother David Richardson and late husband Destry Lewis.

Calling hours will be held On Thursday, April 10, 2014 from 4-7 at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home. A celebration of Lucy's life will take place at a later date to be announced.
