Al Pozzi, age 81, of Saranac Lake, died Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at the Albany Medical Center in Albany following a brief illness.
Born in Saranac Lake, New York on February 11, 1944, he was the son of Albert and Bertha (Seney) Pozzi.
Al grew up in Saranac Lake where he attended and graduated from St. Pius X High School in 1962. He continued his education at Iona College in New Rochelle, NY and later went on to attend and graduate from the New York Law School. Al passed his New York State Bar Law exam on his first attempt. After receiving his law degree, Al made his home in Guilderland, NY where he went to work for the State of New York and served as an Administrative Law Judge until his retirement. Following his retirement, Al moved back to Saranac Lake to his family homestead, a home his father had built.
Al was an avid golfer, and hiker. He was #1273 Adirondack 46er, enjoyed bicycling, and was a very active member of St. Bernard’s Church and parish community. Al also had volunteered for Mercy Care for the Adirondacks for several years.
He is survived by his brother, best friend, golfing and hiking partner, John Pozzi of Saranac Lake, one sister Mary Koza of Wilmington and three nephews Allan, Ken and Branden Koza. He was preceded in death by his father and mother
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM at on Friday October 10, 2025 at St. Bernard's Church in Saranac Lake, with Rev. Martin Cline officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Saranac Lake.
