Alan W. Rock

Alan Wayne Rock age 69 of AuSable Forks passed away on July 24, 2026 from a brief illness.

He was born on August 30, 1956, in Saranac Lake to Dorothy Oliver and Herbert Rock Jr.

Alan was a lifelong resident of the area. He attended Lake Placid Central Schools and Saranac Lake High School. Alan loved to cook and travel to Florida where he hoped to move someday.

He is survived by his longtime companion Kathy Bowen, his beloved dog "Grizzly", Kathy's children Daniel (Jennifer) Smith Jr., and Karlee Smith (Tristan Padilla) and their children. Alan considered them his grandchildren, Kenny Smith, Daniel Smith III, Peyton Smith, Blake Smith, Tekeila and Tristan Padilla. His stepson Anthony Bushey.

He is also survived by his six siblings, Herbert Rock III, Deborah Moody, Harold "Pete" Rock, Timothy (Mary Ellen) Rock, Elaine Urbanowicz and Murray (Heather) Oliver. His many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Dorothy and Robert Oliver and Herbert and Mary Rock, his two sisters, Norma Rock and Jane Shanty, his niece Kimberly Shanty, sister-in-law Margaret "Peggy" Rock and Paul Moody.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A graveside service will take place on Sunday August 9, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Mountain View Cemetery in Gabriels.
