James Brophy

James V. “Jim” Brophy, age 93, of Saranac Lake, NY died Monday January 3, 2022 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, NY.

Jim was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 23, 1928 the son of Robert and Regina (Wolfe) Brophy. He married the love of his life, the former Beverly Tyler who predeceased him in April 2007.

Jim worked for the Department of Social Services in the City of New York for many years before moving to Saranac Lake. Jim worked for the Keough and Son Funeral Home in Saranac Lake for many years. He loved his family, the mountains and lakes of the Adirondacks and his Catholic faith.

Jim is survived by his daughter: Mary Schramm, his sons: Peter and Paul Brophy and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife Beverly Brophy, his father and mother Robert and Regina Brophy, four sons: Mark, Thomas, Matthew and James Patrick, a brother Robert Brophy and a sister Eileen Rossman.

Funeral Arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home. Calling hours are schedule for Friday January 7, 2022 from 10:00am until 1:00pm at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, 20 Church Street, Saranac Lake, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place immediately following at 1:30pm at St. Bernard’s Church with the Reverend Martin Cline officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in Long Island National Cemetery with full military honors. Covid restrictions are in place and masks are required to be worn at the funeral home and church regardless of an individual’s vaccination status.
