OBITUARY
LONG LAKE- Wilfred Andrew Burnett,86, lifelong resident of Long Lake, gently passed away, Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at the home of his daughter’s Wilma in Akron. Born on December 30, 1921 in Long Lake, he was the son of Joseph and Mary (Kiperin) Burnett. Mr. Burnett was a medic who served in the South Pacific during WWII. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to be outside in the Adirondack wilderness. He worked for the former Freeman’s Store and was the caretaker for several cabins on Long Lake. He retired from the NY State Department of Transportation after 25 years. He is pre-deceased by his wife Anastasia who died in 2001. He is survived by his sister Rita Burch and children Nancy DuCharme and her husband Joseph of Burnt Hills, Wilma Randall and her husband John of Akron, Wilfred D. Burnett of Long Lake, Michael Burnett and his wife Julie of East Barnet, Vt. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, David, Amy, Laura, Nathan, Adam, Andrew, Mary, Kyle, Matthew, Melissa, Keith, Jason, James, Megan and Jessica and 5 great-grandchildren, Sarah, Joshua, Grace, William and Jeremiah. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 23 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at St. Henry’s Church in Long Lake. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday at 12 noon.
