Harold D. Cusson, age 85, of 98 Ivy Terrace, Tupper Lake, died Sunday, March 29, 2009 at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
Born in Black Brook, New York on July 07, 1923, he was the son of Fred and Lena (Bombard) Cusson. Mr. Cusson married Pearl Girard on November 23, 1942 at St. Alphonsus Church. She predeceased him on September 13, 1998. Mr. Cusson later married Beulah (Oshier) Pickering on July 7, 2001 at St. Alphonsus Church.
Mr. Cusson had been an operating engineer for the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 106 for 50 years until his retirement in 1981. Prior to that he had been employed at the Oval Wood Dish Company in the early 1950's, owned and operated his own log trucking company, owned and operated the Atlantic Gas Station on Demars Blvd from 1969 to 1971, sold snowmobiles and sold cars for Northland Auto from 1961 to 1962. Mr. Cusson was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2177, Tupper Lake Moose Club and Tupper Lake Lions Club. He is a past Grand Knight and past president of the Lions Club. Mr. Cusson also served two terms as a Village Trustee and as President of the Local AARP Chapter.
He is survived by his wife Beulah Cusson of Tupper Lake, NY, one son Timothy Cusson of Clifton Park, NY, two grandchildren Rebecca Wall of Lake Luzerne, NY and Shamus Cusson of Clifton Park, NY, six step-children Ronald Pickering of Tupper Lake, NY, Karen Marconi of Dallas, TX, Dennis Pickering of Tupper Lake, NY, Debbie Lavigne of Tupper Lake, NY, Penny Larche of Tupper Lake, NY, Laurie Hachey of Tupper Lake, NY, and many step grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Calling hours will take place at Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Thursday, April 2, 2009 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday at St. Alphonsus Church, with Kris Lauzon officiating. Burial will follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery in Tupper Lake. A reception will follow at the K of C Hall in Tupper Lake.
