Rekealth “Kay” E. Egeland, age 106, of Lake Placid, died Monday, April 3, 2023 at Elderwood of Uihlein at Lake Placid.

Born in Brooklyn, New York on February 28, 1917, she was the daughter of William and Rekealth (Martin) Meyer. Kay married Phillip Egeland on June 12, 1936. He predeceased her February 13, 1988.

Kay had been a resident of the Greenwood Apartments in Lake Placid for over 26 years. She had lived in various communities over the years including Bombay, Saranac Lake, and Lake Placid. Kay started a newsletter for the Bombay Adult Center and helped start the Greenwood Apartments newsletter. She was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church Guild in Saranac Lake for many years and also volunteered as a Cub Scout leader. Kay loved to cook and had often published her favorite recipes in the Greenwood News Letter.

She is survived by two sons Douglas Egeland of Bloomingdale, and Bruce Egeland of Howell, NJ, one daughter Marie Liebahenz of Free Hold, NJ, 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, two great –great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one grandson, one brother William Meyer, Jr. and two sisters Sandra Kruger and Innocence Meyer

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A graveside service will take place at a later date to be announced at the North Elba Cemetery in Lake Placid.
