“For Whom The Bell Tolls”

It is with profound sadness that the Bloomingdale family of Erryl Francis Willette, 68, announces his sudden and tragic passing on 25 April 2026 in Bloomingdale, NY. Erryl Francis was a devoted husband to Leona and a loving father to his daughter Laura and his boys Christopher and Mathew.

Erryl wasn’t just a husband, a true friend, a brother, a Dad, a grandfather, an uncle and fur Dad—- He was a force of kindness, humility, a light on every trail and with a heart bigger than anyone can imagine. His children and family and friends are his world. He raised his children with unwavering love, wit, good nature, strength, and courage! From his family, to his friends and beyond, Erryl made everyone feel seen, valued, and loved.

Only second to his love to his family was his love for his motorcycle, a Harley Davidson shovel head. His humanity didn’t stop with people—— it extended to every life he touched, human and animal alike.

His unexpected departure leaves a void that can never be filled. His loyalty, honesty, kindness, his spirit, and the way he loved each us….made us rich and he has now passed on to his next life.

Erryl was proud to have graduated from Saranac Lake High School, to have served in the Marine Corps, work in oil platforms in Golf of Mexico, graduating from electrical and electronics technical College in Pennsylvania, from then on developing his crafts in electricity/electronics, auto mechanics, home building etc, etc, etc. He retired from Adirondack Correctional Facility as Plant Utility Engineer after many years of service to New York State.

Erryl Francis is survived by his wife, Leona, sons Christopher and Mathew, daughter Laura/Dennis, granddaughters Christen, Laurynn, and Madelynn & Max his canine partner, sister in law Linda/ Lem, and siblings Darryl, Cheryl/Andy, Kristyl, and Russyl and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased recently (4 weeks ago) by brother Randyl (Wiggy). Other predeceased brothers Karyl (Moose), Gerryl (GG), Micheyl (Mitch), Dayl, Loweyl (Poochie), Kendyl, and Royl and also by his parents Addie and Paul Willette.

Erryl would have said like his brothers…” I bequeath myself to the dirt to grow from the grass I love. If you want me again look for me under your boot-soles.” And as St. Francis related “Remember that when you leave this earth, you can take nothing that you have received—-only what you have given: a full heart, enriched by honest service, love, sacrifice, and courage “. And indeed Erryl gave this life his all! Fare -thee-well Erryl Francis. See you over the hill Dad! Love you Erryl F…. Amen!

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. There will be no calling hours.
