Born in Winnipeg, Helen became a resident of Baldwinsville in 1959. Helen died at her daughter’s home on Loon Lake, NY, succumbing to breast cancer.
An active member of Baldwinsville First United Methodist Church, she was a youth worker for 20 years, a past president of U.M.W., and enjoyed diverse under-standings of Christianity often shared in adult small groups. Helen was an avid gardener, enjoyed and loved children and youth, but especially those of her neighborhood and church.
Her husband of 49 years, Edwin pre-deceased her in 1994. The birth of her great-grandchildren helped to heal the hole in her heart.
Helen was employed as a receptionist at the Syracuse YWCA and later at the Plaza Nursing Home.
Helen is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, the Revs. Wendy and Gary Rhodehamel, as well as three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Northern New York, Baldwinsville First United Methodist Church Campership fund, of First UMC’s Food Pantry.
Her favorite scripture, Romans 8:37-39, strengthened her as she loved God and neighbor.
Helen’s memorial service will be at Baldwinsville First United Methodist Church on Sunday, June 5th at 3pm. Inurnment will be at Lakeview Columbarium, Casowasco, Moravia NY.
