Jane M. Shanty

Jane M. Shanty, age 63 of Saranac Lake, NY died on Friday July 3, 2026 at the Albany Medical Center following a brief illness. 

Although Jane was unable to recover from her illness, she was an organ donor and was able to give the gift of life to others.

Jane was born on October 3, 1962 in Lake Placid, NY the daughter of Herbert Rock, Jr. and Dorothy (Darrah) Oliver. She married Bruce Shanty on June 14th 1984 at the Brighton Town Hall in Paul Smiths.

Jane was a lifelong resident of the area and had worked at Kinney Drugs for several years as a Pharmacy Technician

Jane is survived by her husband Bruce of Saranac Lake, daughter Tiffany Rohe of Saranac Lake, step daughter Michelle Shanty of Rainbow Lake, two sisters Debbie Moody, Elaine Urbanowicz, five brothers Herbert Rock III , Harold “Pete” Rock, Alan Rock, Timothy Rock and wife Mary Ellen and Murray Oliver and wife Heather; and her grandchildren Connor Shanty-Rohe Piper Shanty-Rohe and Makenna Shanty- Rohe and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one daughter Kimberly Ann Shanty, her parents Herbert (Mary) Rock, Jr. and Dorothy (Robert) Oliver, sister Norma Rock and sister-in-law Margaret "Peggy" Rock and brother-in-law Paul Moody.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake, from 4 PM to 6 PM on Thursday July 16, 2026. Burial will take place at a later date in Harrietstown Cemetery in Saranac Lake.
