Jane M. Shanty

Jane M. Shanty, age 63 of Saranac Lake, NY died on Friday July 3, 2026 at the Albany Medical Center following a brief illness after a recent fall.

Although Jane was unable to recover from her injuries, she was an organ donor and was able to give the gift of life to others.

Jane was born on October 3, 1962 in Lake Placid, NY the daughter of Herbert and Dorothy (Darrah) Rock. She married Bruce Shanty on June 14th 1985 at the Brighton Town Hall in Paul Smiths.

Jane was a lifelong resident of the area and had worked at Kinney Drugs for several years as a Pharmacy Technician

Jane is survived by her husband Bruce of Saranac Lake, daughters Tiffany Rohe of Saranac Lake three sisters Debbie Moody, Norma Rock, Elaine Urbanowicz, five brothers Herbert Rock III and his wife Peggy, Harold “Pete” Rock, Alan Rock, Timothy Rock and wife Mary Ellen and Murray Oliver; and her grandchildren Connor Shanty-Rohe Piper Shanty-Rohe and Makenna Shanty- Rohe and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father and mother and one daughter Kimberly Ann Shanty.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake, from 4 PM to 6 PM on Thursday July 16, 2026. Burial will take place at a later date in Mountain View Cemetery in Gabriels.
