Jean (Drutz) Nesbitt age 78, of Plattsburgh, NY died on Saturday April 25, 2026 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, NY.
Jean was born on September 18, 1947 the daughter of Joseph and Beatrice (Laplante) Drutz.
Known as the unofficial Mayor of Beekman Towers in Plattsburgh, Jean’s personality lit up any room that she entered and she loved to laugh. She loved her people and would strike up a conversation with anyone.
Jean enjoyed playing cards, scratching lottery tickets, being in the sun, dancing, and trips to the Casino. She loved to bowl, her back-up ball was legendary, and, later in life, she spent a lot of time with friends as a member of the Moose Club in Saranac Lake. She cherished time with family and friends, especially her two grandsons, Geoziv of Plattsburgh and Miguel of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Jean was born and raised in Saranac Lake, New York and was a 1965 graduate of St Pius X High School. She married George (Tiny) Nesbitt in October of1966 and had a son (Thomas) and a daughter (Jill). Jean’s volunteer work included; Saranac Lake Youth Hockey, St. Bernards Church in Saranac Lake, the Newman Center in Plattsburgh, where she was a Eucharistic Minister, and with several agencies for senior citizens in Plattsburgh. She was predeceased by her parents, husband and her sister Deborah Clinch of Auburn. Surviving family include her son, Thomas and Ellen Nesbitt of Peru, NY; daughter Jill Nesbitt of Plattsburgh; sister, Joanne and Bill Balzar of San Antonio, TX along with several nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A mass of Christian Burial will take place at 2:00 PM on Friday May 22, 2026 at St. Bernard’s Church in Saranac Lake. Burial will follow at Pine Ridge Cemetery. A celebration of life will immediately follow from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Saranac Lake Moose Club.
