Betty Ketcham

LONG LAKE- Betty J. Ketcham, 76, of Long Lake and most recently Greenville, South Carolina, died Friday, January 16, 2009 at the Rolling Green Village Health Care Facility in Greenville. Born on April 3, 1932 in Stanley, NY, she was the daughter of James and Helen (Pulver) Hutchinson. On November 26, 1949 she married Vance (Sam) Ketcham. They moved to Long Lake in 1963. Mrs. Ketcham was employed at the Grand Union in Long Lake until its closure in 1977. She went on to work for Key Bank until retiring in 1994. Mrs. Ketcham was a member of the United Methodist Women, the Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was the church organist for the Calvary United Methodist Church in Long Lake. She is survived by two daughters, Cherie O’Hara and her husband Jim of Homosassa, Florida, Kim Brown and her husband Reggie of Mauldin, SC., two sons, Steve of Romulus, NY, Randy and his wife Lea of Tupper Lake, three grandchildren, Matt, Melissa and Keith Burnett, one brother Harold (Sonny) Hutchinson and his wife Rosa of Stanley, one sister Arlene Andersen and her husband Dave of Burlington, Wa, and nephews and nieces. She was pre-deceased by her husband Vance in in 1998. There will be no calling hours, a funeral service will be held on Friday, January 23 at 11:00 a.m. at the Calvary Methodist Church in Long Lake. Burial will follow in the Long Lake Cemetery. Those wishing to make memorial donations are asked to consider the Open Arms Hospice, 1836 West Georgia Rd., Simpsonville, SC 29680.
