TUPPER LAKE- Margarette LaMoy, 90, of Tupper Lake, passed away, Monday, December 8, 2008 at the home of her daughter’s Patty where she had resided since September. Born on July 13, 1918 in Norfolk, NY, she was the daughter of Pearley and Charlotte (Quigley) Leonard. She was a graduate of Tupper Lake High class of 1937. On October 12, 1939, she married Gerald Hazen with whom she had five children. He died in 1958. She was employed by Corning Glassworks in Corning, NY from 1942 until 1958. After the death of her husband, she packed up her five children and returned to Tupper Lake where she was employed at Sunmount VA Hospital and later Sunmount DDSO. She was forced to retire in 1980 after a serious injury. During her VA days, she gave birth to another child. On September 21, 1969, she married Paul LaMoy in Tupper Lake. Paul died on December 10, 2000. Margarette loved baking and gardening and at the age of 90, still grew and canned her own vegetables. She had a green thumb and could grow the most beautiful flowers all around her house and yard. She enjoyed anytime she could spend with her family and best friend “Tibby”. Margarette is survived by two brothers, Edward and Francis Leonard, both of Tupper Lake, one sister Ruth Kenny of Massachusetts, a daughter and favorite son-in-law, Dora Eccleston and her husband Earl of Addison, NY, a daughter Patricia Breault of Tupper Lake and a son Thomas Hazen and his wife Giselle of Oklahoma. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandaughter. She was pre-deceased by her husbands, Gerald and Paul, daughter Suzanne Clement, son and daughter-in-law Frank and Jen Hazen, a son Michael Hazen and a grandson Lee Eccleston. One sister Cecilia Pendland and brothers George, John and Edgar. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 10 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral home in Tupper Lake. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 11 at 11:00 a.m at St. Alphonsus church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s cemetery in Corning on Friday at 1pm.
