Mrs. Lina Boon, age 98, of Bloomingdale, NY died Friday, August 28, 2026 at the Plattsburgh Rehabilitation & Nursing Center.

Born in Massa Carrara, Italy on January 27, 1928, she was the daughter of Antimo and Caterina (Kelendich) Marzano.

Lina married the love of her life Herbert E. Boon on February 24, 1946 in Pisa, Italy. They met there while Herbert was stationed there with the United States Army 232nd Medical Service Battalion. Upon honorable discharge and completing his service in the army, Lina and Herbert moved back to Saranac Lake and lived on Upper Broadway for 25 years before moving to Bloomingdale. Lina had worked at the Dress Factory in Saranac Lake for many years and also had also worked as a CNA at the Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid for 10 years until her retirement.

She is survived by her son Michael Boon of Saranac Lake, her daughter Linda Sawyer of Oswego, nine grandchildren Lindsey Murray, Andrea Boon, Patrick Boon, David Boon, Jonathan Boon, Monica Yeardon, Melissa Craft, Mark Sawyer, and Erin Anelli, many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert, her mother and father, one son Robert, two brothers Eno and Beppe and two sisters Nella and Fedra.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A graveside service will take place at 12:00 PM on Saturday September 5, 2026 at St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery in Bloomingdale with Pastor Ryan Schneider officiating.

Friends wishing to remember Lina may make memorial contributions to the Lil Tykes Day Care in care of the funeral Home. The Lil Tykes Day Care was a very special place for Lina. She had regularly attended mass there at the former St. Paul’s Church and later loved to spend time when her granddaughter opened a daycare there.
