Kenneth Martell Jr

October 29, 1956 — January 21, 2020

Kenneth Carl Martell, age 63, of Saranac Lake passed away January 21, 2020 at the Mercy Living Center after a brave battle with esophageal cancer.

Ken was born on October 29, 1956 in Saranac Lake, the son of the late Kenneth and Dorothy (Ratelle) Martell. A graduate of Saranac Lake High School, Ken was employed by the NYS Fish Hatchery and later worked with his brother-in-law Roger. Ken enjoyed fishing, hunting, listening to music, volunteering at the Wednesday Community Supper and spending time at Mt. Crest and with his AA family.

Ken married his best friend Andrea DeGrace on July 31, 2004. Andrea passed away June 22, 2014.

Survivors include his children Kenneth John and his fiancee Melissa of Matthews, NC and Bethany Ann Hogan and her husband Josh of Canton, NY. Sisters Margaret Martell and her husband Roger Holmes of DeLand, FL and Theresa Martell of Saranac Lake. Grandchildren McKayla and Noah Hogan. Also surviving are his kitties Jeter and Ebie, niece Heather Bair, Andrea's family and several cousins.

Ken's family is thankful for the many kind and supportive people who were there for him.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, 20 Church Street, Saranac Lake, NY 12983. At Ken’s request there will be no calling hours. Burial will be held in the Spring in St. Alphonsus Cemetery in Tupper Lake. Friends wishing to remember Ken may make memorial contributions to the Tri-Lakes Humane Society in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home.
