Mary R. (Pozzi) Koza

Mary R. Koza (Pozzi), age 87 of Willsboro, NY died on April 7, 2026 at Elderwood of Uihlein at Lake Placid.

Mary was born on January 4, 1939, in Saranac Lake, NY the daughter of Albert and Bertha (Seney) Pozzi.

She is survived by her step children Allen and Kenneth Koza, her beloved grandson Brandon Koza all of Virginia Beach, VA. She is also survived by one brother John Pozzi of Saranac Lake. She was predeceased by her husband Jim Koza and one brother Albert Pozzi.

Mary was raised in Saranac Lake, where she attended St. Bernard’s School and graduated from Saranac Lake High School in 1957. Mary worked as an elementary school teacher and had a long and rewarding career in East Ramapo and Spring Valley, New York. To this day she still had students she taught so long ago come to see her, which gave her a great deal of pleasure. She was an exemplary teacher and friend.

After her retirement she and her husband Jim moved from Rockland County to their new home in Champlain, NY, where she especially enjoyed spending a lot of time with her grandson Brandon. They traveled everywhere together, bike riding, apple picking and fishing just to name a few.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Tuesday April 14, 2026 at St. Bernard’s Church in Saranac Lake with Rev. Martin Cline officiating. Burial will take place in St. Bernard’s Cemetery.
