Obituary Notice
Barbara Quigley McKillip, age 76, of 60 Church Street, Saranac Lake, died Monday, September 15, 2008 at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
Born in Saranac Lake, New York on June 14, 1932, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Maria (Keyes) Quigley. She married John "Jack" McKillip April 14, 1956 at St. Bernard's Church. He predeceased her in 1973.
Mrs. McKillip was a life long resident of Saranac Lake and had worked as a registered nurse for over 50 years until her retirement in 1999. She had worked as an RN for various places including Medical Associates, the Old Saranac Lake General Hospital (which is currently North Country Community College) and for a short time at the Saranac Lake General Hospital on Lake Colby Drive. She also worked at Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid. Mrs. McKillip was an avid reader.
She is survived by one son James McKillip and his wife Mary Ann of Fredonia, NY, one daughter Molly Burke and her husband Aaron of Saranac Lake, NY, three sisters Ann Crisham, Patricia Dupree and Eileen Swain all of Saranac Lake; three brothers James Quigley of Florida, Thomas Quigley of Staten Island, NY, and Joseph Quigley of Saranac Lake, NY, four grandchildren Caitlin and Justin Burke of Saranac Lake, NY, and Megan and Andrew McKillip of Fredonia, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five sisters Maria Keyes, Betty Owens, Margaret Rice, Kate Wiles, and Marie Peabody and one brother Lawrence Quigley.
Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. A bible vigil service will take place on Wednesday evening. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12:00 PM on Thursday September 18, 2008 at St. Bernard's Church, with Rev. Thomas Kornmeyer officiating. Following cremation burial will take place in St. Bernard's Cemetery in Saranac Lake.
