Charles H. Moore, Jr, age 84, of 60 Church Street, Saranac Lake, died Monday, October 19, 2009 at home.
Born in Horseheads, New York on August 04, 1925, he was the son of Charles and Grace (Bush) Moore, Sr. Charles, married Geraldine Lum April 9, 1949 in Methodist Church, Logan, NY.
Mr. Moore had been a resident of Tupper Lake from 1957 to 1981 where he was employed at Sunmount DDSO as a registered nurse until his retirement in1980. Following retirement he moved to Vermontville, NY where he lived for 19 years, Burke, NY for 3 years and Saranac Lake since 2003. Mr. Moore was a member of the Tupper Lake VFW Post 3120. He also was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed stamp and coin collecting, reading and watching the history channel. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren play hockey. His favorite football team was the Notre Dame and his favorite pro team was the New England Patriots. He is a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II from 1944 to 1946.
He is survived by his wife Geraldine Moore of Saranac Lake, NY, one son Michael Moore and his wife Susan of Bloomingdale, NY, one brother Robert Moore and his wife Edith of Savona, NY, three sisters Esther Lattin of Ohio, Helen Haight of Montour Falls, NY, and Joan Kaiser of Horseheads, NY, five grandchildren Donald Smith, Jr., Melissa Smith Gretchen Moore, Christopher Moore and his wife Carina, and Kelley Moore, and five Great Grandchildren Seirra, Kaitlyn, Keira, Aiden, and Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Charlotte Smith, and one son Wayne Moore.
Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 from 1 PM - 3PM. A funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home at 3:00 PM, with Rev. Maggie McCary officiating. Burial will take place at Valois Cemetery in Valois, NY on Thursday October 22, at 1:00 PM.
