Helene Walter

It is with deep sadness that her family reports the passing of Helene Walter, 151 Main Street, Tupper Lake, NY 12986, owner of the Faust Motel. Helene was born in Neuss, Germany on November 6, 1939, daughter of Herbert and Louise Oppermann. She is predeceased by her sister Laurie and brother Willi as well as her parents. She still has many family and friends that reside in her homeland of Neuss, Germany.

Helene, better known to her family and friends as Leni, married Erhard Bodo Walter from Breslau, Germany on August 28, 1958. In June of 1964, Erhard, Leni and Petra, left their homeland of Neuss, Germany and journeyed by boat to America. They arrived on July 7, 1964 in New York Harbor. They resided in Jackson Heights, New York until 1972, when they decided to purchase their favorite vacation destination, the Faust Motel, from Minnie Paiement. Leni was the proprietor of the Faust Motel until the time of her passing. She also had been a devoted employee to Sergi and Caroline Lussi proprietors of the Crown Plaza in Lake Placid, NY.

Helene was the great grandmother of Tayler Riley, and grandmother of Emily and Lyndsay LaBarge. She has one daughter, Petra LaBarge, who is married to Colonel Tim LaBarge of Tupper Lake. She also leaves behind her loving extended family and many wonderful and caring friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at the St. Alphonsus Cemetery, Hosley Ave and County Route 44 in Tupper Lake, at 3:30 pm on Thursday the 29th of October. An informal reception will follow immediately thereafter at her daughter’s house on Paskungameh Road in Tupper Lake.
