Richard H. “Dick” Watson, age 88, passed away Thursday September 28, 2023 at Elderwood of Uihlein at Lake Placid, NY.
Dick was born on the White family farm in Westport, NY on June 9, 1935, the son of Maurice and Aletha (White) Watson.
Dick grew up and attended school in Elizabethtown, NY where he was athlete of the year in 1953. In 1954, he joined the US Navy. Dick moved to Texas after his Naval service where he became an educator and ran a state jobs program. When he retired from the State of Texas, he split time between the New York North Country and Florida.
Dick is survived by his wife Joan Hollander; Ray, Sharon and Randy Watson of Olympia, WA; Tim, Amy, Anna, Joshua, Ella and Jonah Taylor of Lake Placid, NY as well as Kyle and CeeCee Rottger.
Dick was preceded in death by Gloria Reece and Rod Watson.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, 20 Church Street, Saranac Lake, NY 12983. At Dick’s request there will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
