Kelly A. Kinch

1961 — 2025

Saranac Lake

With deep sadness, we announce the unexpected passing of Kelly A. Mills Kinch on April 25, 2025, at Adirondack Medical, where she was reunited with her beloved husband, Paul Kinch, and son, Dylan Kinch.

Raised in Ogdensburg, NY, Kelly was a devoted and caring mother to her daughters, Autumn J. Kinch of Tupper Lake and April L. Kinch of Saranac Lake. She cherished her daughters’ partners, Kyle Varden and Josh Gallo, who became like sons to her. Her five grandchildren—Mia Nichols, Gianna Dinehart, Lakyn Kinch, Blake Nichols, and her baby Braxon Nichols—were the brightest lights in her life, filling her days with joy and laughter.

She leaves behind her loving sisters, JoAnn Douglas, Mia Benjamin, and Staci Douglas; her dear partner, Jack Scott from Texas; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews. Kelly was loved by her extended family, including her sister-in-law Kathy Kinch Cary, brothers-in-law “Big” Mike Cary and Pete Kinch (and his late wife Suzanne Larocque Kinch), and was predeceased by her brother-in-law Alvie Kinch. Kelly also grieved the loss of her sisters, Cindy Mills Lipinski and Kayleen Mills Edwards, and her brothers, Pete Mills and Jeff Mills, as well as her parents, Joan VanFleet Mills and Darrell “Doc” Mills. She is survived by her brother Darrell Perrine.

Anyone fortunate enough to know Kelly knew that her heart was bigger than the world. She always put herself on the back burner to ensure everyone else—especially her children and grandchildren—were cared for first. She found endless happiness in simple joys: laying in the sun, singing, dancing, doting on her grandkids, and sharing in their daily lives. Kelly’s bright energy and love for life were infectious; she was always ready with a joke or her famous “uggghy-boogy” act to make people laugh—especially if it embarrassed her kids.

Kelly had an incredible work ethic and approached every job, especially her work as a cleaner, with her whole heart. She treated her clients like family, and they loved her in return. Her home was always filled with delicious food, most famously her world’s best tossed salad and peanut butter fudge. Friday night fish fries, tie-dyed T-shirts, and Bob Marley music were just a few of her favorite things—she dreamed of cruising to Jamaica and visiting the Bob Marley Museum.

Despite facing stage 4 ovarian cancer in November 2024, Kelly’s strength and positivity never faltered. In April 2025, she rang the bell in triumph as a cancer survivor—an inspiration to all who knew her. She was eagerly looking forward to traveling and making new memories with her loved ones.

Kelly’s children described her as an “awesome mom”—a blessing whose love gave them a wonderful childhood filled with laughter and treasured moments. Her gentle spirit and kindness touched everyone she met, and she will be missed more than words can express.

A celebration of Kelly’s life will be held at 1:00 pm on May 18th, 2025, at the Moose Lodge in Ogdensburg, NY.
